Joe and I recently had the honor of attending the Rotary International Assembly, where Rotary’s future leaders gather from around the world to learn, collaborate, and prepare for the year ahead. The Google Translate app came in very handy! One evening at dinner, I sat next to a lovely woman from Japan who spoke no English, while I spoke no Japanese. Thanks to the app, we were able to communicate. For the rest of the week, whenever we passed each other, she would stop and speak to me in Japanese. I would smile, nod, and say “arigato” (thank you). I had no idea what she was saying, but we both walked away smiling.
The Assembly is more than a meeting—it is a global exchange of ideas, values, and vision. Leaders from many countries come together to align on Rotary’s priorities, humanitarian goals, and strategies to strengthen clubs and communities worldwide.
Our Prescott Frontier Rotary Club does wonderful community work here at home. It is truly extraordinary to realize that through Rotary, good works are taking place all around the world. — Linda Sweeney, President, The Rotary Club of Prescott Frontier
Giving Has no Season
The holiday season of giving may be over, but for Prescott Frontier Rotary, giving has no season! Looking back at 2025, we collectively put our motto of "Service Above Self" into action, completing 31 service projects, donating nearly 900 items, and raising almost $57,000 for local organizations.
Heartfelt thanks to every Rotarian, volunteer, sponsor, and friend who shared their time, talent, and/or treasure to make this past year a success. We look forward to making an even greater impact in the Prescott community in 2026.

Grapes 4 Good - Sponsorships Opening Soon
Prescott Frontier Rotary is proud to announce the return of our signature fundraising event, Grapes 4 Good, on September 20, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 PM at Watters Garden Center. This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as we mark 20 years of Grapes 4 Good and two decades of making a lasting impact in our community and beyond.
Grapes 4 Good brings together friends, neighbors, and supporters for an evening of fine wine, great company, and a shared commitment to service. What started as a small fundraiser has grown into one of our most anticipated annual events, helping fund projects that support education, wellness, food security, youth programs, and international humanitarian efforts.
For 20 years, this event has reflected Rotary's core value: Service Above Self. Through the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and attendees, Grapes 4 Good has changed lives locally and globally, reaching those who need it most.
Mark your calendars now and get ready to join us as we celebrate this incredible milestone. Sponsorship and ticket information will be available soon. Together, let’s raise a glass to 20 years of service, impact, and community.
The Prescott Frontier Rotary Club's signature Grapes 4 Good event raised thousands of dollars in 2025, thanks to the generosity of our corporate sponsors, donors, and guests. These proceeds will support many charitable programs and service projects in 2026 that help people in Prescott, surrounding communities, and around the world. RYLA: Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders in the Pines of PrescoTt
The Arizona Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program is a one-of-a-kind leadership experience that empowers high school students in grades 9–12 to discover their potential and grow as leaders. Set among the beautiful pines of Prescott at Camp Pinerock, RYLA combines challenge, inspiration, and fun in an unforgettable setting.
Recently, 130+ students gathered for a high-energy, fun-filled weekend made possible by the dedicated Rotarians of Rotary District 5495. Students are carefully selected to attend RYLA based on their leadership qualities, initiative, and desire to grow.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in hands-on team-building exercises, outdoor activities, and interactive leadership sessions designed to build confidence and foster collaboration. Through these shared experiences, students learned how to communicate more effectively, work as a team, and lead with integrity.
Each student leaves RYLA with stronger leadership skills, increased self-confidence, and lasting friendships, along with a renewed sense of purpose and teamwork.

SERVICE PROJECT RECAP
Winter Wellness Fair
The crisp December air in Prescott carried something warmer than usual this year—the sound of children's laughter and the spirit of community coming together. The PUSD Winter Wellness Fair transformed an ordinary day into something magical for 167 children/teens and their families, many of whom are experiencing homelessness.
For families navigating the uncertainty of unstable housing, programs like Winter Wellness offer more than just a festive gathering. They provide a lifeline of dignity, connection, and hope during what can be the most isolating time of year. The Prescott Unified School District Winter Wellness Fair is a gathering that has quickly become a lifeline for some of our city’s most vulnerable teens. The event, designed to support students experiencing homelessness or living at or below the poverty line, transforms what can be a difficult season into one filled with hope, dignity, and joy. "This program is everything to us," shared one parent, who asked to remain anonymous. “When you're struggling just to keep your kids warm and fed, you don't think about celebrations. But seeing my daughter's face light up today—that's a gift I couldn't give her on my own.”
The event buzzed with holiday energy as Santa himself made a special appearance, settling into his chair to hear the wishes and dreams of every child who wanted to share them. For many of these children, the challenges of homelessness often mean missing out on the simple joys of childhood. But on this day, they were simply kids—wide-eyed, giggling, and believing in magic.
In addition to the $4,000 donation, the Prescott Frontier Rotary Club also added its own touch of sweetness to the celebration, distributing free Christmas cookies to everyone who attended. But beyond the cookies and Santa photos, the Winter Wellness program addresses critical needs. "These families are going through tough times," explained a PUSD representative. “Winter Wellness isn't just about one event. It's about showing these children and parents that they matter, that their community stands with them, and that they're not facing their challenges alone.”
In a season often defined by what we have, the Winter Wellness event reminded everyone what truly matters—compassion, community, and the simple act of showing up for one another.
Thank you, PUSD, for creating a space where every young person experiences the spirit of the season. Together, we’re changing lives.
Adopt-a-Senior
On December 16, the Prescott Frontier Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Prescott had the joy of bringing holiday cheer to the residents of Mountain View Manor Nursing Home in Prescott through the Adopt-a-Senior program.
As Rotary members, we delivered thoughtful gifts, shared delicious food, and celebrated the holiday spirit together, filling the halls with music, laughter, and smiles. The warmth and gratitude we experienced in return reminded us how meaningful these moments of connection can be.
Spending time with the seniors, hearing their stories, and seeing their faces light up was a beautiful reminder of what the holiday season is truly about—community, compassion, and caring for one another.
We are grateful to every Rotarian who participated and gave their time and heart to make this day special. Together, we helped make the holidays a little brighter for some of our most cherished neighbors.
From all of us at Prescott Frontier Rotary, thank you for allowing us to make Prescott a kinder and more compassionate place.
Wreaths Across America
Each year during the holiday season, communities across the country come together to lay wreaths in honor of our military heroes. These wreaths are placed at memorials and gravesites as a visible reminder that those who served our nation are remembered, honored, and never forgotten.
The act of laying a wreath is simple, yet deeply meaningful. Evergreens symbolize enduring strength, red bows represent sacrifice, and each wreath tells a quiet story of courage, service, and love of country. During a season often focused on celebration, wreath-laying offers a moment of reflection and gratitude.
For many families, veterans, and volunteers, this tradition provides comfort and connection. It is a way to say “thank you” to those who served—especially to those who can no longer be with us—and to ensure their legacy lives on in our hearts.
As Rotarians, service above self is at the heart of what we do. Participating in or supporting wreath-laying ceremonies is one small but powerful way we can honor that commitment and show respect for the men and women who gave so much in service to our nation.
We felt privileged to pause and remember their sacrifices, carrying their spirit of service forward into the new year.
Upcoming Service Projects
The Community Cupboard Food Sort
Rotarians continue to work with Yavapai Food Neighbors to sort donated food for the Community Cupboard Food Pantry. The Community Cupboard is still experiencing record-breaking need for donated food. The Prescott Frontier Club will be at the Prescott High School on Saturday, February 14th, from 8:45 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., collecting non-perishable food donations from the local community's neighborhood Green Bag Program. Contact The Community Cupboard if you would like to contribute to their cause: https://thecommunitycupboard.org/
Kid's Birthday Bags
Bringing children's birthday parties to life is an annual Prescott Frontier tradition. Club members assemble Community Cupboard Birthday Bags, also known as a “party in a bag.” Each bag includes everything a family needs to host a birthday party for their child, such as cake mix, frosting, a cake pan, candles, and balloons. The Community Cupboard Food Pantry serves over 1,000 children. When a family picks up much-needed food, they can request a Birthday Bag for a child up to 17 years old with a birthday that month. Last year, the Prescott Frontier club donated 58 Birthday Bags and is ready to beat that number this year! If you would like to contribute to the birthday bags, contact Wendi Lancy at RotaryWendi5495@gmail.com.
Pet Food Collection Drive
This March, the Prescott Frontier Rotary Club is collecting pet food donations to support United Animal Friends and help care for animals in need in our community.
Donations of dry or canned dog and cat food are greatly appreciated and will make a meaningful difference for local pets awaiting loving homes.
If you’d like to participate or have questions about donating, please reach out to Wendi Lancy at RotaryWendi5495@gmail.com. Thank you for helping us support United Animal Friends.
The Prescott‑Frontier Rotary Club meets each Tuesday at noon. Members and guests gather in a comfortable dining room—complete with a private banquet space—where a full lunch menu is served.
We warmly welcome our community speakers, visiting Rotarians, prospective members, and the Club’s expanding lineup of service projects—from food drives to mentorship initiatives.
We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!
