Grapes 4 Good Raises Funds

Hundreds of guests attended Prescott Frontier Rotary Club's 🍇Grapes 4 Good🍇 fundraiser on Sunday, September 28, 2025. The 19th annual special event was held at Watters Garden Center in Prescott. It featured tastings of a dozen different wines, catering by El Gato Azul and Torme restaurants, music by Mood Swing, live and silent auctions, and a raffle drawing. Many arrived with generous hearts and gave to the club's fund. The participants raised thousands of dollars, and all proceeds will benefit numerous charitable programs and service projects that support people in Prescott, surrounding communities, and worldwide. Thanks to all who attended and gave generously!
Among the Rotarian volunteers were (l to r) Don Miller, Lisa Doherty, Frontier Rotary President Linda Sweeney, Sandra Moffitt Adams, and Rotary District 5495 Governor Elect Joe Sweeney

District Governor Inspires Giving

Jim Schmidt, Rotary District 5495 Governor, visited Frontier Rotary's meeting on September 9, 2025. A recently retired managing partner of the accounting firm Schmidt Westergard & Company (now Forvis), Schmidt discussed the numerous benefits of contributing his time, talent, and treasure to Rotary since joining the Mesa Baseline Rotary Club at the age of 28. He said that he's passionate about Rotary's vision and encouraged fellow members to follow his example and consider increasing their donations over time. Schmidt closed by sharing a poem and later attended a meet-and-greet with members of all four local Rotary Clubs.

Congratulations!

Excellence Awarded

The 2024-25 Club Excellence Award, Rotary International's highest distinction, was presented to the Prescott Frontier Rotary for fostering a positive experience for its members and reflecting the values of Rotary. The award recognizes the Club's outstanding efforts over the past year to achieve its goals in club membership; service participation in such projects as the Prescott Community Cupboard Food Bank, Teen's Closet, Veteran's Memorial Cleanup, and High School and Vocational Scholarships; and annual fund contributions to both Rotary International and Polio Plus. Pictured displaying the award is Katheryn Tuberty,  immediate past president of Frontier Rotary and assistant governor for Rotary District 5495.

District Rookie of the Month

During his visit, Schmidt also presented a "Rookie of the Month" award to Frontier Rotarian Michelle Lessard for August 2025, in recognition of her outstanding service, dedication, and leadership during her first year of Rotary membership. Schmidt's presentation included her nomination by club leaders: "As a software business analyst, Michelle has tackled technical issues with grace and generosity, offering assistance to members struggling with technology, improving our meeting audio setup, and dedicating personal time to resolving computer problems."

Charitable Fund Donations

Catholic Charities Girl Talk

Frontier Rotary President Linda Sweeney presented a $5,000 check on behalf of the Frontier Rotary Charitable Fund to Lisa Reinert, Youth Program Specialist for North Star Youth Partnership, who expressed her appreciation for the generous donation.  The Girl Talk program by Catholic Charities Arizona is a North Star Youth Partnership initiative that provides middle and high school girls with mentorship from high school peer leaders, fostering self-esteem and healthy choices through activities like games, crafts, and discussions about important life lessons.  The program aims to create a safe, supportive environment where girls can build connections, develop self-awareness, improve self-management, and enhance their leadership skills. Reinert, in turn, presented a giant-sized thank-you card to the Club, signed by Girl Talk participants.

Agape House

Frontier Rotarian Rex Townsend presented a $2,500 check on behalf of the Frontier Rotary Charitable Fund to Deanna Webb, an administrative staff member of Agape House, who expressed her appreciation for the generous donation. The Agape House is a local nonprofit organization that provides long-term transitional housing for families facing homelessness. The organization reports an 86% success rate for families living independently one year after graduating from Agape House. Their mission is to change the face of homelessness, one family at a time.

SERVICE PROJECT RECAP

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER

Not only does the Prescott Frontier donate funds to our local charities, but the group also gives much-needed goods. The Club donated over 175 items, valued at more than $1,125, to the Family Resource Center, including children's socks, shoes, and undergarments.

Our Rotarian Earl Moss delivered the collection to Judy Stencel, Director of the Family Resource Center. Thank you!

Walk to End Alzheimer's

Rotarians from Prescott and Prescott Valley (and fur-babies 😃) gathered to Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, September 27, 2025, to raise funds and awareness for the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®. The event is held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide.

Currently, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and over 11 million family and friends provide their unpaid care.

The team raised nearly $1,500 to help the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementias. Well done!

Gold Star Mothers Flower Delivery

An organization with which our Rotary club is proud to be involved is the Gold Star Mothers

💛 Every year, these ladies come together in Prescott for a luncheon hosted by the VFW Post 10227.  Here we honor and thank our Gold Star Mothers—the incredible women whose sons and daughters gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is one no parent should ever have to make, yet they carry it with grace, courage, and unwavering love.

We will never forget your children—their bravery, their service, and the legacy they left behind. And we will never forget you, the moms who raised them, loved them, and gave this nation true heroes. 🇺🇸
